Academy for Educational Development (AED) is a bridge, a link between the problem and the solution, the need and the resource, people and their potential. Founded in 1961, AED is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to solving critical social problems and building the capacity of individuals, communities, and institutions to become more self-sufficient. AED works in all the major areas of human development, with a focus on improving education, health, and economic opportunities for the least advantaged in the United States and developing countries throughout the world.
 
ACCION's goal is to have a significant impact on poverty by building self-sustainable microfinance institutions (MFIs) capable of reaching millions of poor microentrepreneurs. We do this by promoting commercial microfinance, providing our network of MFIs with a broad range of technical support. ACCION International's partner microfinance institutions today are providing loans as low as $100 to poor women and men entrepreneurs in 22 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa, and in more than 30 U.S. cities and towns. Together, ACCION affiliated programs have disbursed $9.4 billion in microloans to more than 3.9 million borrowers. Ninety-seven percent of these loans have been repaid.
 
ACDI/VOCA is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes broad-based economic growth and the development of civil society in emerging democracies and developing countries. Offering a comprehensive range of technical assistance services, ACDI/VOCA addresses the most pressing and intractable development problems.
 
American Refugee Committee (ARC) is an international nonprofit, nonsectarian organization that has provided humanitarian assistance and training to millions of beneficiaries over the last 29 years. ARC works with refugee communities in 7 countries around the world, helping people regain control of their lives. The people ARC serves have lost everything to events completely beyond their control. ARC provides shelter, clean water and sanitation, health care, skills training, microcredit education, protection and whatever support we can to let people begin again.
 
CARE works with poor communities in more than 70 countries around the world to find lasting solutions to poverty. They look at the big picture of poverty and go beyond the symptoms with a broad range of programs based on empowerment, equity and sustainability that seek to tap human potential and leverage the power of communities and individuals to unleash a vast force for progress.
 
Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is the official overseas development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. CAFOD believes that all human beings have a right to dignity and respect, and that the world's resources are a gift to be shared equally by all men and women, whatever their race, nationality or religion.
 
Catholic Relief Services aids the poor by first providing direct assistance where needed and then encouraging the people with their own development through economic assistance programming. Together this fosters secure, sustainable and just communities. CRS is also committed to educating the people of the US to fulfill their moral responsibilities to our brothers and sisters in the developing world.
 
Christian Aid is the preferred development agency for 41 Christian Churches in Britain and Ireland. We work in 52 countries and our essential purpose is to expose the scandal of poverty, to help in practical ways to root it out from the world and to challenge and change the systems which favour the rich and powerful over the poor and the marginalized. We do this through a partnership approach which is at the heart of the way we do business both with our supporter base in Britain and Ireland and with our partners and alliances we work with overseas.
 
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation seeks to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs.  They have become a worldwide leader in the fight against pediatric AIDS by using three main strategies:  funding critical research and training; launching and supporting global health initiatives to prevent mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV and provide care and treatment; and advocating for children's health.
 
EngenderHealth is a leading international reproductive health organization working to improve the quality of health care in the world’s poorest communities. EngenderHealth empowers people to make informed choices about contraception, trains health providers to make motherhood safer, promotes gender equity, enhances the quality of HIV and AIDS services, and advocates for positive policy change. EngenderHealth works in partnership with governments, institutions, communities, and health care professionals in more than 25 countries around the world.
 
Episcopal Relief and Development responds to human suffering around the world. We provide emergency assistance after disasters, rebuild communities, and help children and families climb out of poverty.
 
Food for the Hungry is an international Christian relief and development organization working in more than 26 countries around the world.  They do a bit of everything -- from disaster and emergency relief to sustainable development programs.
 
Global Partnerships is an innovative leader in the fight against poverty around the world through microlending programs to help the poor help themselves, the development and sharing of model programs that offer sustainable solutions to poverty, and through theInitiative for Global Development; which is working to mobilize business and civic leaders to make the elimination of global poverty a national priority. Global Partnerships creates economic opportunity, helping people access the resources they need - capital, healthcare, education, and infrastructure - to generate their own sustainable income and positive momentum in their lives.
 
Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. Habitat seeks to eliminate poverty and homelessness throughout the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action, Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
 
Heifer International's mission is to work with communities and families to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. They use the gift of a source of food rather than short term relief and expect the offspring of the gift to be passed on to others in the community along with the knowledge, resources and skills to create an expanding network of hope, dignity and self-reliance.
 
InsideNGO is dedicated to strengthening operational teams and fostering leadership in the international non-profit sector. The unique value that InsideNGO has delivered for over 30 years is supporting finance, grants/contracts, and human resources staff.
 
International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) supports the development of preventative AIDS vaccines that are not only safe and effective, but also accessible to all people.  To that end, IAVI invests the bulk of its resources in the research and clinical assessment of candidate vaccines against strains of HIV that are prevalent in the developing world, where some 95% of new HIV infections occur.
 
International HIV/AIDS Alliance is a global partnership of nationally-based organisations working to support community action on AIDS in developing countries. These national partners help local community groups and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to take action on AIDS, and are supported by technical expertise, policy work and fundraising carried out across the Alliance.
 
International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery and oppression. A multi-national team of law enforcement professionals and legal staff conduct criminal investigations and collect evidence to rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice. IJM then works to ensure victims have access to quality aftercare and encourages structural changes to prevent the abuse from being committed against others who are also at risk. IJM is determined to bring the church and public into increased awareness of the cases of manifest injustice that exist in the world and of the opportunities to correct these injustices by the diligent application of professional training and expertise.
 
International Partnership for Microbicides is a non-profit product development partnership (PDP) established in 2002 to prevent HIV transmission by accelerating the development and availability of a safe and effective microbicide for use by women in developing countries.
 
International Rescue Committee is at work in 25 countries delivering lifesaving aid in emergencies, rebuilding shattered communities, caring for war-traumatized children, rehabilitating health care, water and sanitation systems, reuniting separated families, restoring lost livelihoods, establishing schools, training teachers, strengthening the capacity of local organizations and supporting civil society and good-governance initiatives. For refugees afforded sanctuary in the United States, IRC offices across the country provide a range of assistance aimed at helping new arrivals get settled, adjust and acquire the skills to become self-sufficient.

Ipas has worked for three decades to increase women's ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights and to reduce deaths and injuries of women from unsafe abortion. Mercy Corps alleviates suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Merlin specialises in health, saving lives in times of crisis and helping to rebuild shattered health services. Merlin works with existing health systems to realise everyone's right to accessible, appropriate, affordable health care.

PATH advances technologies for low-resource settings. Technologies must be effective, culturally acceptable, available, and affordable to the people who need them most. We strengthen health systems, because only stable systems can make use of technologies, and because all people - no matter where they live - need and deserve reliable health information and services. Additionally, we encourages healthy behaviors, working with communities to help people examine - and challenge - assumptions and traditions that may contribute to poor health.
 
Plan International works to achieve lasting improvements for children living in poverty in developing countries, through a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and value to their lives.
 
Population Services International (PSI) mission is to measurably improve the health of poor and vulnerable people in the developing world, principally through social marketing of family planning and health products and services, and health communications. Social marketing engages private sector resources and uses private sector techniques to encourage healthy behavior and make markets work for the poor.
 
Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior.
 
Rare Conservation works globally to equip people in the world's most threatened natural areas with the tools and motivation they need to care for their natural resources.
 
Save the Children UK fights for children's rights and delivers immediate and lasting improvements to children's lives worldwide.

United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is an offical public standards-setting authority for all prescription and over-the-counter medicines and other health care products manufactured in the United States.  USP also sets widely recognized standards for food ingredients and dietary supplements.  USP sets standards for the quality, purity, strength, and consistency of these products--critical to the public health.  USP's standards are recognized and used in more than 130 countries around the globe.
 
Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild lands worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education, and management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together, these activities change individual attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth.

WWF was born into this world in 1961. It was the product of a deep concern held by a few eminent gentlemen who were worried by what they saw happening in our world at that time. Since those early days WWF has grown up to be one of the largest environmental organizations in the world. Currently there are more than 1300 WWF conservation projects underway around the world. The vast majority of these focus on local issues. They range from school nature gardens in Zambia, to initiatives that appear on the packaging in your local supermarket.
