PMD Pro1 Workshop Khartoum, Sudan
Monday, September 26, 2011
Date: September 26th
Time: 9:00 AM to 11:00AM
Location: Plan International's Office, Central Khartoum
On Monday, September 26, Eric Berg, Executive Director of LINGOs (Learning In NGOs) will conduct a free, two hour workshop for anyone interested in learning more about project management capacity building in the development sector. The workshop will include an overview of Project Management resources in the private sector and the “contextualization” process that has been done to make those resources more applicable to development professionals. Eric will report on the work being done for World Vision in Southern and Eastern Africa (including Sudan) and for the Inter-American Development Bank in Haiti and Latin America.
Some of the tools that are common in the private sector yet rarely seen in the development sector (Project charters, Workbreakdown Structures, Risk Registers, Issue Logs, RACI Charts, etc) will be presented along with examples of how they apply to our work in development.
Background: For the past four years, LINGOs, PM4NGOs and a working group of eight international NGOs have worked on the question “How can we improve the impact of our projects by improving the project management skills of our people and partners?” One of the results of that effort is the Project Management in Development Professional Certification. The PMD Pro1 (Project Mangement in Development Professional) is the first independent, internationally recognized project management certification designed specifically for individuals working in the development sector. Since February 2010 over 1000 development professionals have gained certification by completing the necessary study requirements and passing the certification examination hosted by APMG International, the same accrediting body as the Prince2 project management certification.
To register for this highly informative, compact overview of what is going on in project management capacity building in NGOs, please email Vicki Aken, Country Director for GOAL Sudan (vaken@sd.goal.ie). Please register early as space is limited. Participants will be registered in order of request.
