Ninth House offer online training in a variety of leadership and management topics, with the most commonly used being Situational Leadership.  LINGOs hasthe following Ninth House courses available:

These courses can only be used by employees of member agencies. 

 

Accessing the Courses:  There are two ways for users to access Ninth House courses.  Both methods require access to the Internet and member agency's LMS:

·          Ninth House Online

·          NetCD

 

When launching the course via your LMS sub-portal, the user will be asked whether he or she is using a NetCD.  If the user answers “yes,” most material for the course will be loaded from the Ninth House CD but access to the Internet is still required.  If a user answers “no,” all material for the course will be loaded from Ninth House Online.  Ninth House courses CANNOT be launched directly from the CD without first logging into the LMS.

 

Knowing whether your user needs the NetCD depends on the user’s Internet connection speed.  While both access options require the same Internet connection speed, Ninth House Online takes quite a bit more Internet capacity than NetCD.  This is because only small Flash files come over the Internet when using NetCD.  Large movie files are delivered over the Internet when using Ninth House Online but play directly from the CD for NetCD users.

 

In some locations with limited Internet capacity, users may get better quality results by using NetCD.  If a learner uses Ninth House Online and experiences movie files that skip, stutter, or pause during playback, that learner should use NetCD instead.  There is a utility available within the course to check for Internet speed.  However, it does not check for Internet capacity.  So, it is possible for a user’s workstation to pass the connection speed test and still not have the Internet capacity to run Ninth House Online.

 

 

How to Load Ninth House Onto Your Agency's Portal:  To load Ninth House courses onto your LMS sub-portal, either contact your LMS Administrator or if you are the LMS Administrator then email robb (at) lingos.org.

 

Reviewing the Courses:  If you would like to review the courses prior to making them available to your users, please email licenses (at) lingos.org .  Only members can have access.  Please specify whether you need review copies of the NetCDs.

 

Cost of Courses:  NetCDs are distributed on a per-user basis.  A package of CDs which includes all the courses costs $20 plus shipping. (You cannot duplicate the CDs yourself.)  To order copies of Ninth House CDs, email licenses (at) lingos.org.   Ninth House Online access does not require CDs (see Accessing the Courses above).
