 Overview

Outstart Trainer is a robust e-learning development tool that allows you to build stand-alone online courses.  Using OutStart Trainer's hundreds of flexible templates and drag-and-drop authoring, you can create rich course content without knowledge of HTML or Flash programming.
 
Recommended user audience:  Given the robustness of the templates and interactions available in OutStart Trainer, LINGOs recommends this tool for course developers who have intermediate-level skills in curriculum design and information technology.  Before adopting this tool, users should be fully computer literate and comfortable learning, adopting and troubleshooting new computer technologies.

Licenses
LINGOs member agencies receive two licenses for the OutStart Trainer e-learning development tool.  Agency key contacts should send requests for licenses to licenses(at)lingos.org

 How to Download OutStart Trainer
To download OutStart Trainer, new users will receive an e-mail from LINGOs providing a username and password to the OutStart CustomerEdge Support Site http://customeredge.outstart.com
 
Included in that e-mail will be instructions on where to proceed within the CustomerEdge Support site to access the OutStart Trainer application download.  The e-mail will also provide detailed instructions on where to input the OutStart Trainer license provided by LINGOs.

 Do You Need Help?
In the event that you need help installing, designing and/or developing courses using OutStart Trainer - LINGOs recommends you follow two steps in addressing your challenge:
 
STEP ONE - The first step users should take is to review the extensive array of resources available to address their challenge.  See the web part below (entitled Resources Available to Trainer Users) to learn about these resources.
 
STEP TWO - If you are unable to address your challenge via the information found in the Resources Available to Trainer Users web part below, LINGOs might be able to help.  Contact Michael Culligan mike(at)lingos.org if you have technical questions concerning the installation and use of OutStart Trainer.  LINGOs cannot guarantee that we can answer all questions, but we might be able to provide assistance.

 Resources Available to Trainer Users

New Users (and experience users too) are strongly recommended to take advantage of the many resources that exist to support their use of OutStart Trainer.  These support Resources include the following:

 

OutStart Customer Edge http://customeredge.outstart.com – this customer support site provides a knowledge repository and technical support service for OutStart Trainer.  Users can access documents, search the knowledge base, follow peer-to-peer and peer-to-expert exchanges, submit support requests and more.  Users require a username and password to access the site.  These username and passwords are provided to users by LINGOs when they receive their download license.  If an existing license holder requires a username and password to access the Customer Edge site, contact licenses(at)lingos.org

 

OutStart Learning Zone  http://learning.outstart.com/learning/ - licensed users can access an 8-module course training learners on the use of OutStart Trainer.  These courses include:developing interactive content, including questions, loading external content and much more.  Users of this resource require a username and password to access the site.  Users interested in accessin the 8-module course should contact licenses(at)lingos.org

 

 

The LINGOs LMS Test Portal

Many LINGOs agencies are using OutStart Trainer to develop courses that are loaded to their Intralearn Learning Management System (LMS) sub-portals.  The LINGOs LMS test portal includes examples of OutStart-generated courses that have been uploaded into the IntraLearn LMS environment.  These courses serve as a proof of concept for the inter-operability and feature options of IntraLearn and OutStart products.

 

To access to view examples of OutStart Trainer in the IntraLearn LMS test portal, follow these instructions:
